Brooklyn Gardens

by Mike on November 19, 2009

A little taste of home…
A picture from my first trip to Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It wasn´t until this past summer that I finally made it there. I devoured a Luger burger, sipped Thai iced coffee and saw too many people wearing jeans that were waaay too tight.

Where the Sidewalk Ends

by Mike on August 21, 2009

Looking at this picture I am immediately reminded of the Shel Silverstein poem Where the Sidewalk Ends. The trails of La Jolla twist and wind around marvelous coast, passing high above the rolling tides and foaming waves of the Pacific Coast below. This is why I hike. I’m not particularly keen on the act of [...]

Dharma Bum 2.0

by Mike on August 19, 2009

San Diego is no stranger to beauty with its…

…vibrant flowers…

…enchanting hotels…

…breathtaking sunsets…

…surfers’ dreams…

… and 323 sun-filled days a year.

Metaphor: The Tree of Utah

by Mike on July 30, 2009

Another pic from my cross country road trip.
Located in the Great Salt Lake Desert, the 87 foot tall sculpture was created by Swedish artist Karl Momen in the 1980s.  Inscribed on the Tree of Life you will find the words: “A hymn to our universe whose glory and dimension is beyond all myth and imagination.” [...]

Independence Day in New Paltz

by Mike on July 28, 2009

Rather than deal with Turnpike traffic, obnoxious crowds and boisterous BBQs, I spent my 4th of July weekend in New Paltz, NY with a few buddies. Just a little over an hour from my house we found scenic views, peaceful trails, thundering waterfalls, delicious wine and free whiskey. New Paltz is a little college town [...]

Out Come the Wolves

by Mike on July 27, 2009

My dad’s a big nature and photography buff so for Father’s Day I took him to the Lakota Wolf Preseve in Columbia, NJ. The preserve is home to Tundra, Arctic and Timber wolves, as well as bobcats and foxes.  The preserve offers special photo sessions, which allow serious photographers unobstructed views of the wolves, but [...]
